Grand opening of the OpenLab Tunis A Tunisian-German Cooperation
28 May, 2024. It was a great honor for us to officially inaugurate the OpenLab Tunis at CETTEX, the Technical Center for the textile industry, in collaboration with GIZ Tunisia, and the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy.
We were delighted with the presence of the Minister Mme Fatma THABET CHIBOUB from the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy, the Governor of Ben Arous M. Ezzeddine Chelbi, the president of the association of Technical Centers (ACTIT) Mme Narjes Maslah El Hammar, the President de la Fédération Tunisienne et Habillement (FTTH) M. Haithem Bouagila, the Head of German Cooperation in Tunisia Mme Jacqueline Groth, and the general director of the Technical Center for Textiles (CETTEX).

About the OpenLab Tunis
The open digital manufacturing lab (OpenLab Tunis) is an open and multidisciplinary laboratory for digital manufacturing to promote innovation and local value creation with digital manufacturing tools on the way to Industry 4.0 in Tunisia. It’s also a space for experiencing and experimenting with relevant digital manufacturing technologies in the hardware domain bringing different stakeholders and partners together. The OpenLab Tunis is run by the OpenLab Team of CETTEX, offering a wide range of innovative manufacturing services from concept to final product.

Partner & Funding
The New Production Institute of the Helmut Schmidt University has set up the OpenLab Tunis as an open laboratory for digital manufacturing to promote the innovation strategy of local value creation with digital manufacturing tools on the way to Industry 4.0 in Tunisia.
This activity is part of the National Initiative “Towards an Industry 4.0 in Tunisia”, launched by the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy, supported by the Special Initiative “Decent Work for a Just Transition- Invest for Jobs of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by the GIZ Tunisia Digital Transformation Program in partnership with Helmut Schmidt University (HSU).
